Q: What is franchising?

Franchising is a method of distributing products and services that involves a franchisor who lends their trademark and business system to a franchisee who, in return, pays a royalty for the right to use the franchisor’s trademark and system in his/her business.

Q: How can I pay for my franchise business?

The options for financing a franchise business vary depending on the franchise opportunity being purchased. The most common are: Paying Cash, FHA loan, SBA loan, traditional bank loan, borrowing from friends/family.

However, some franchisors offer in-house financing. This avenue enables qualified franchise business owners to work directly with franchisors to finance their new business. Since 1987, ServiceMaster Acceptance Company, our affiliate, has been proud to offer in-house financing.

Q: What are the advantages of purchasing a franchise?

Franchise business owners enjoy the same advantages desired by typical small business owners, including flexible schedules and income potential. But franchise owners (as opposed to independents) may also benefit from the established product or service derived from the franchise. Franchised companies often have highly recognizable brands that benefit the local owners. Owners may also benefit from the combined buying power of the combined franchise network, resulting in the ability to buy supplies cheaper than they would be able to as an independent.

Additionally, pre-opening support and ongoing support are paramount. These are integral components of the relationship between the franchisee and the franchisor.
